I lost my cellphone Friday night on the 49, but didn't realize it 'til I woke up the next morning. Since it's patched into my building's intercom, I tried to get ahold of whoever might've found it. No joy there, so I retraced my steps to the bus stop on Pine, then I went to Charlie's on Broadway, to see if somebody turned it in there. They didn't have it, of course, but the maâtre d' let me use their phone, and I got hold of the guy who found it. I had to get on the and go to his workplace to retrieve it, and once more, I depended on Yahoo! Maps, which messed me up big time! So, I had to get back on the 7, and I finally picked up my phone!*
*Weird turn of events, riding the 7 out of Downtown; the guy who found my phone was on the 49 when I lost it, but couldn't catch up to me to give it back; when I got on the 7, he was sitting in front of me, and we talked a bit. He didn't recognize my voice, apparently, and when I met him at his work, we both had the shock of recognition.
I was really stupid yesterday! I left multiple messages on Chris Holmok's voicemail telling him that I'd lost my cellphone in his truck. I also emailed hm, and asked him to meet me at Mr. Spot's Chai House. Then I sent about $50.00($35.00 deductible, and because I was using Western Union, another $12.95.) to Sprint's insurance company to replace it, went through alot of trouble, having to do it over, because they messed it up on their end, and I left Chris in the lurch at Mr. Spot's, instead of heading over there to tell him that I had sent off for a replacement. But I didn't need to go through the insurance hassle, because he got my messages, and he was trying to get in touch with me, so he could give it to me. So, I'm out $50 for nothing, 'cause I can't get a refund. I hope I'm not out a friend, too.
I got a ride from Chris Holmok last night after the Slam, and I took out my cellhpone in his truck so I could call another friend, and I remember aiming for my pocket when I was putting it away, but apparently, it slipped out of my hand, and into his truck somewhere. So if you're reading this, Chris(and I know, I've left two messages on your voicemail, and I've emailed you once), but I really need that cellphone, and any way you can get in touch with me, please do so. I'm going to be at Mr. Spot's Chai House for the Open Mic between about 6 and 9:30.
Well, here it is, a full week as a cell-phone whore. Hide your children and women! Not only am I a whore, but I'm looking to corrupt all that is good and pious by getting people to sign up with Sprint so I can get a $10.00 credit on my bill. So, I think I'll cruise on up Broadway, and put it about.
I got a cell phone yesterday at the Sprint store on 5th & Union. I've been wrestling with this for almost as long as I've been in S-Town, but after I got it, I was surprised at how nonchalant I was! I feel like I have to be bloody precious about using it, though. It's a nice phone. I didn't want any bells of whistles, just basic phone service to replace my home service from Qwest. I got 500 anytime minutes, and unlimited nights and weekends for $45.00. If I don't exceed my anytime minutes, I'll be saving about $20.00. This is quite opportune, since my rent is going up that much in May.
